Nicolai Troshinsky

Nicolai Troshinsky studied illustration in Madrid at the same time as assisting intensive courses with Józef Wilkon and Linda Wolfsgruber in Sármede, Italy. In 2009 he graduated as animation filmmaker in the French school “La Poudrière”. From 2006 he has been working as a freelance children’s books illustrator for publishing houses such as Kókinos, Nórdica, A Buen Paso, Kalandraka and Anaya. From 2009 to 2011 he taught cinematographic language at Ars Animación in Madrid and since 2014 he has been teaching illustration in the European Institute of Design in Madrid. In 2010 he began developing experimental games, including Loop Raccord, which was a finalist in the 2013 IMGAs, the AMAZE Indie Connect Award in 2013, 2011’s Indiecade Festival, and the IGF. In 2013 he released his animation short film Astigmatismo which was featured in over 100 international film festivals such as Sundance, Annecy, and Sitges. His work has been exhibited in Spain, France, Italy and the UK, including the significant experimental games exhibition curated by the Kokoromi and Tag collectives at La Gaîté Lyrique digital art centre, Paris. Nicolai has been working with Ed Key on Forest of Sleep, a new experimental storytelling game, since 2015.
