A UNIQUE M.A. PROGRAM

The Game Design M.A. Program at IULM University explores digital games as a cultural and artistic expression, located at the intersection of art, technology, and design. It offers a distinctive approach to game design at a graduate level. The Program is open to applicants from all over the world. Students from diverse backgrounds in visual and performing arts, architecture, science, the humanities, design, and engineering are encouraged to apply.

The Game Design M.A. Program provides a context for playful experimentation under the guidance of professional game developers, recognized artists, and influential scholars from all over the world. Students will be able to work with designers and teachers from the United States, Canada, Belgium, the UK, Italy, and other European countries. 


MAKE GAMES THAT MATTER

Over the course of the year, students will work individually or in teams to brainstorm, research, design, and develop a digital game which will become their final project to be submitted at international competitions and festivals. This year-long project is a crucial part of the curriculum.  The M.A. offers a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to a game design practice that focuses experimentation, creativity, and innovative thinking.

The curriculum encompasses group critiques, technical and critical seminars, independent studies, classes in game design and a strong emphasis on individual mentoring. Experience full-day workshops with some of the most recognized and talented game designers and practitioners in the world.

Graduates will acquire the skills needed to work in the video game industry and develop games. Whether they will decide to become independent creators, join an existing studio, launch their own company, or become multimedia artists, critics or curators, they will master the essential production and direction skills.
